Ukrainian drones struck the Moscow region in one of the war’s most visible attacks on the Russian
capital area, with local officials reporting injuries and another hit on Moscow’s oil refinery.
The raid sharpened the message from Kyiv that Russia’s energy system remains within reach.
Ukraine framed the refinery strike and wider drone campaign as a way to pressure Moscow toward
serious peace talks, while Russia reported hundreds of drones intercepted and flight disruptions
around the capital.
Swiss officials said talks between the United States and Iran are planned at the Buergenstock
resort, following an interim ceasefire framework that has lowered immediate war risk but left
nuclear, sanctions and regional questions unresolved.
Israeli officials said talks with Washington are focused on whether Israel can keep troops in
southern Lebanon, even as the U.S.-Iran framework calls for respect for Lebanon’s sovereignty
and territorial integrity.
A UN-backed assessment warned that extreme hunger is worsening in 13 hotspots, with Sudan,
South Sudan, Yemen, Somalia, northeast Nigeria and Gaza among the places facing the gravest
danger without urgent access and funding.
